Author Jasmijn Derckx discovered this hotel in 2022 during her tour of the Canary Islands and fell in love with the volcanic island of Lanzarote. She was also inspired by the life of (life) artist Cesar Manrique (1919-1992). This was the man who transformed Lanzarote with his vision of life, his works of art, his masterpieces such as 'Jameos de Agua, 'Mirador del Rio', 'Cactus Garden' and his homes in lava bubbles (Haria, Tahiche).
In collaboration with Cesar Manrique Foundation, Jasmijn Derckx put together an ultimate week that she and José Antionio Garcia Garcia will present in 2024. Imagine that just a few steps from your beautiful hotel room you can write in Lanzarote's oldest library. That oranges are squeezed from the orchard in front of the hotel for your breakfast. We will have lunch and dinner in special, surprising locations. Explore the island with a private guide, taking in the life of Cesar Manrique. We go to Caleta de Famara where he came as a child with his parents and laid the foundations for his oeuvre, and visit his grave in Haria.
Jasmijn Derckx helps you make your dreams come true during this writing retreat. By talking, writing, and philosophising. Enjoying in peace, while at the same time being inspired by the life and work of Cesar Manrique. Even if you don't come along to write, you are welcome.
